G2004 Navy Wins National Premier League Title

Congratulations to San Diego Soccer Club team G2004 Navy for winning the Southern California National Premier League (NPL). This accomplishment is distinguished as the first NPL title won by any boys or girls SDSC team in the seven-year history of the league.

Coached by Joe Montoya, the G2004 Navy team earned their victory by being undefeated against teams from several California counties and Nevada. They will represent Southern California at the 2018 Girls NPL Finals in Colorado in July.

"This a great opportunity for the girls to play the best teams in the country and to represent Southern California and San Diego Soccer Club!" said Coach Montoya. "My 04 Navy Team has been battling with injuries all year, but they still show up to practice and do their very best. At one point in NPL we had to play two tough games in two days, with no subs. During the game we lost a player due to a injury so we went down to 10 players.  The score was 1-1 with 10 min left in the game; I had another player pulled out by the ref because she had blood on her knee. So we were down to 9 players, so with only a few minutes left and we scored the winning goal!"

The Southern California NPL was founded in December 2011 as part of US Club Soccer’s National Premier Leagues to serve as a player development platform for the elite youth soccer clubs in Southern California. We're proud to see our players distinguish themselves in the NPL. Go, SDSC!
