We are thrilled to announce another development in the level of programming we are offering our players as our club joins the Girls Academy (GA). Our female players and coaching staff have been working hard for years to have an opportunity to perform on a national platform like the GA and now the opportunity has arrived! To be able to work with the GA, a platform whose vision is about the development of the whole player, both on and off the field, aligns perfectly with our goals of developing female players who are powerful on the field and just as powerful off the field in their community.

“As a club, we are extremely excited and proud to get the opportunity to showcase our players in the prestigious GA . We want to thank the GA committee and our coaching staff at SDSC for all the work, commitment and dedication to our girls’ program,” said Raffi Ruotolo, Director of Girls.

The GA is a youth development platform for some of the top female soccer players in the country. The GA is the only national youth soccer platform that represents the collective vision of the member clubs and actively engages the voice of the players to take real ownership of their development goals. This collaborative philosophy creates a culture guided by a shared set of core values, which produces an unparalleled experience uniquely designed in the best interest of players. The GA embraces the desire of club members and GA players alike to maintain an unrivaled standard of excellence in coaching, competition, and regional and national showcase events throughout the year.

Our goal at SDSC has long been to develop our players to reach their full potential both on and off the field. This national platform, formed from the ashes of the USSDA last April, will give our players the opportunity to chase their dreams as a player. The competition on a regional basis will ensure that our players are competing in meaningful games on a weekly basis. The National Showcase events will allow our players to be exposed to US National Team and college soccer opportunities at levels they have not previously been provided.

We couldn’t be more excited to have this opportunity to work with the GA. Their willingness to get to know the clubs they are working with and to work with them collectively to create a better product is unparalleled in this country. Our players now will truly have an opportunity to strive for their goals in an environment that they have a voice in. Not only will this help drive them on the soccer field but will empower them to become leaders of their own destiny as they move forward in their lives.

We will continue to communicate with our girls program families as we transition into the GA over the summer months following the conclusion of the Spring DPL season and postseason.
