G2003 Navy Advances to National Cup Finals!

Congrats to our G2003 Academy Navy team (Coaches Pete Stogsdill and Aaron Jaffe) on their advancement to the National Cup Finals! Calsouth’s National Cup competition is their highest form of State Cup play. It features all of the top teams in Calsouth.

The girls had a fantastic run through National Cup. They won their group with three wins scoring eight goals and allowing none. They won their Rd. 16 and quarter final game by a combined score of 5-2.  In the semi-finals the girls played Inland Empire Surf, a team that had beaten them the last 2 times they played them and was the top seed in the tournament. SDSC went down early in the first half 1-0 and a terrific save by Julia Walsh kept it that way into halftime.  SDSC came back in the second half on goals by Elise Jabbour and Trinity Coker to win the game 2-1. In Sunday’s Championship match, the girls played extremely hard against a very defensive minded team, the TVSA Hawks. SDSC created a couple of very good scoring opportunities but could not capitalize.  After 80 minutes of regulation and 30 minutes of overtime the game went on to penalty kicks as a scoreless draw. Unfortunately,  the Hawks prevailed in PKs 3-2.

From Coach Pete Stogsdill: “I could not be more proud of how this group of girls came together during National Cup. They played for each other throughout the run and gave everything they had left in the final. We had some quality chances to win the game but overall Temecula Valley Hawks Soccer Club played a great game as well and we all know that anyone can win when it comes to PK’s. This just wasn’t our turn to win it at that point.”

Amazing accomplishment girls!
