San Diego Soccer Club player Brooke Gierczak (G2003) was selected to the Olympic Development Program (ODP) 2004 Region 4 team. ODP was created in 1977 to identify players for national age group pools and teams, as well as provide high level training. She will attend a camp over the summer in Colorado. If she makes the final cut for the Regional team she will travel over Thanksgiving to play in a tournament against the other three ODP Regional teams.

Her coach, Pete Stogsdill had this to say about Brooke's accomplishment:
“Brooke is a terrific defender; she dominates in the back regardless of the competition. This season we played against kids 2 years older than her and they all hated having to play against her because of her physical play. The best part is that after she takes the ball away, she is technical enough to settle the ball down and begin the attack. This is a great accomplishment for her and gives her a chance to compete and play with some of the best players in the country.”
